(KPL) Italian Development Cooperation has donated EUR 80,000 through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to help flood victims in Attapeu Province, Laos.
The government and people of Italy are concerned by the tragedy that hit the country after the flooding disaster in the province of Attapeu occurred on July 23rd, 2018, said Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Enzo Moavero Milanesi.
The Italian minister publicly expressed Italy’s grief, his condolences for the victims and sympathy with their families on Jul 25.
With the aim to provide relief and support to the population severely hit by the flash floods, the government of Italy decided to respond to the emergency appeal launched by FRC to support the Lao Red Cross (LRC) in delivering assistance and support to 7,500 people for 18 months.
The Italian Development Cooperation therefore decided to provide to IFRC an emergency contribution of EUR 80,000 from the Italian bilateral emergency fund at IFRC, as a sign of Italy’s friendship to the people of the Lao PDR in these difficult circumstances, said the minister.
