(KPL) Representatives of the Party and government bodies, and private sector joined a 110-car caravan heading to Huaphanh Province’s Viengxay district to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Viengxay as the historic stronghold of the Lao revolution.
The activity aims to promote the learning of the history of the prolonged and fearless struggle of the Lao multi-ethnic people and heroes for the cause of national liberation as well as protection and development over the past five decades under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The opening ceremony for the event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and was in the presence of ministers, their deputies, vice mayors of Vientiane Capital, and representatives of mass organizations.
“The organizing of this caravan also aims to promote an understanding of revolutionary characteristics and ideals as well as an awareness of the guiding role and lifestyle of the former leaders; build pride in the successful struggle for national liberation; promote solidarity, and the traditions of patriotism, heroism and unity under the leadership of the Party,” said Minister Bosengkham.
This is also to encourage Lao citizens to explore and discover their nation during Visit Laos Year 2018, especially by visiting the historical stronghold of the Lao revolution. In addition, it seeks to attract visitors to visit the northern provinces, thus promoting socio-economic development and poverty reduction in rural areas.
Starting at Vientiane Capital, the caravan will travel through Bolikhamxay and Xieng Khuang before reaching Huaphanh to take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Viengxay district as the stronghold of the Lao revolution.
