Kremlin says Ukraine talks may continue in Istanbul

WorldKremlin says Ukraine talks may continue in Istanbul

MOSCOW — Participants in the Ukraine talks are considering Istanbul as a possibility to continue negotiations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.

“For now, I can say that in general there is an understanding that the negotiation process will continue, but again, there are no specific details yet,” he said.

He added that Kyiv is using increasingly sophisticated methods to carry out attacks, requiring Russia to adopt more high-tech countermeasures to protect its citizens.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian armed formations carried out a massive strike using high-impact missiles on residential areas and other civilian infrastructure in the Bryansk region, leaving seven dead and 42 injured.

Peskov said Russia must continue its special military operation and achieve its goals “to eliminate the risk of such actions and acts by Kyiv such as the strike on Bryansk.”

Ukrainian missile attack on Russia’s Bryansk kills 7

The number of people killed in a Ukrainian missile attack on Russia’s border region of Bryansk rose to seven, with 42 others injured, the region’s governor Alexander Bogomaz said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian armed formations carried out a massive strike using high-impact missile weapons on residential areas and other civilian infrastructure in the Bryansk region.

“Twenty people are receiving treatment in medical facilities in Bryansk, and their condition is stable,” the governor said.

Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large, said that crimes by Kyiv, such as the attack on Bryansk, are aimed at derailing negotiations aimed at ending the conflict with Ukraine.

The Russian Investigative Committee said that at least eight missiles hit Bryansk, including seven UK-made Storm Shadow missiles, leaving more than 70 infrastructure facilities and vehicles damaged in the strike.
